What a Scenario is ..
Scenario Reader

There is a spectrum of scenario forms that have been used to plan for the future. In order to be as inclusive as possible, scenario is defined simply as a future state that is often developed through a sequence of events. The orientation of scenarios may be future-backward or present-forward. And both orientations may use quantitative or qualitative methods. Scenarios may also be passive - the future is what happens, or active - the future is what you make it.


What an Open Source Scenario is ..
Separation Principle

An open source scenario is the story, associated data and analyses that define the trajectory of variables, discrete and continuous, on the journey into the futures. An open source scenario is publically available for use and re-use, privately or commercially.


What an Open Source Scenario is not ..

Scenario-based strategies are strategies derived from scenarios and often incorporate sensitive and competitive information. The key concept of open source scenarios is that they do not involve strategy. Development of open source scenarios may thus involve a wide range of stakeholders, benefiting from diversity of thought, experience and perspective
